A Behind the Scenes Look at a Criminal Defense Firm
This session provides a practical overview of discovery challenges, case management strategies, and effective client communication across four common criminal case types: DWI, Domestic Violence, Drug Offenses, and Sex Offenses. Attendees will learn how to efficiently organize evidence, manage deadlines, and navigate sensitive client interactions while adapting to the unique issues presented in each category of offense. The presentation focuses on real‑world workflows and best practices to support smooth, well‑managed cases from intake through resolution.
Deandra Grant is a Texas‑born attorney raised in Plano and a graduate of Plano Senior High School, Trinity University, and SMU Law. Known for her strong work ethic and long-standing dedication to DWI defense, she is a Super Lawyers honoree since 2011, AV® Preeminent™ rated, and author of the annually updated Texas DWI Manual. Outside of law, she is active in dog rescue, serves as Vice President of Living the Doxie Dream Rescue & Sanctuary, and shares her home with five rescue dachshunds. She enjoys travel, medieval European history, and is an avid Van Halen (DLR-era) fan.
