DCPA Welcomes Attorney Jared Julian who will be speaking at our February CLE Luncheon!!

Mr. Julian will begiving a broad overview of the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act (“UCCJEA”). The UCCJEA has been adopted by every state in the Nation. The purpose of the UCCJEA is to determine which state has jurisdiction over, and authority to make initial and ongoing custody and possession decisions for a child in a custody case. Using the UCCJEA, family law professionals can usually determine what Court has the authority to make these important decisions without the necessity of litigation. However, if the parties still disagree, the UCCJEA provides the black and white law for the Courts to apply to properly determine this important issue. A primary goal of the UCCJEA is to deter and prevent the injustices associated with interstate parental abduction which has historically been a major travesty.

Our February CLE Meeting will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2020 from noon - 1:00 p.m.  Registration is now open until Tuesday, February 18th for members and non-members, with or without lunch.
